Candidates must be licensed or pre-licensed/license eligible in CA. Must have experience working with severe mental illness and with families, including the ability to empathically set limits and hold boundaries. Familiarity with therapeutic milieu, behavioral, family systems, and psychodynamic approaches a plus. Full time position involves individual, group and family therapy as part of a cohesive, skilled and supportive treatment team. Salary is commensurate with experience. Mental Health Support Staff (Caregiver)
Job Description
Established, well respected, short-term residential treatment program looking for career minded, motivated individuals to work in a therapeutic setting with clients with primary mental health concerns (depression, anxiety, personality disorders, mood/thought disturbances), significant life transitions, post trauma stress, and substance abuse issues. Looking for candidates who have experience working with mental illness, including the ability to utilize milieu therapy techniques to foster a supportive environment. Candidates with degrees in a field of Psychology or equivalent and familiarity with therapeutic milieu, behavioral, family systems, and psychodynamic approaches is a plus.

Caregiver Responsibilities

  • Must be able to ensure compliance with the facility rules and regulations.
  • Must be willing to participate in all scheduled trainings.
  • Must be able to interact with residents, staff, visitors, and other persons in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ensure that resident’s rights are being considered at all times.
  • Must be familiar with each client’s after-care plans and program design.
  • Ensure provision of care and supervision to meet client needs.
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of a planned activity program.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and proper sanitation and ensure that the facility is free from health and safety hazards.
  • Demonstrate ability to implement procedures for disaster and mass casualty plan.
  • Provide first aid in the event of an emergency and notify proper authorities without delay of significant events such as death, fires, accidents or other emergencies.
  • Support clients in the planning, preparing and serving of meals.
  • Perform office work and housekeeping activities such as cooking, house cleaning, laundering and maintenance of building, equipment, and grounds.
  • Reports and documents observations and client response to programs directly to house manager, administrator, or licensee.
  • Must demonstrate ability to report resident abuse and neglect. Use form SOC 341.
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgment and integrity, especially in areas relating to client care and supervision and Title 9 and Title 22 regulations.
  • Administer drug screenings to residents

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum 18 years of age.
  • Graduated from high school or possess a GED.
  • A minimum of 1 year of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working in a program serving persons with mental disabilities.
  • Such experience shall be in direct services to clients.
  • 20-clock-hours of continuing education per year.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of Title 9 and Title 22 Regulations.
  • Ability to perform general housekeeping such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.

Facility is staffed 24/7. Currently hiring for daytime, evening, and awake-overnight positions (Note: Hours may vary based on the needs of the facility). Includes medical & dental benefits, 401(k), sick, and vacation for full-time staff. Must be able to pass a background check, receive a negative TB test, have a reliable cell phone and vehicle.
